The succeeding vintage of our first wine. We aim again at an easy-going interpretation of the classic Bordeaux blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Around 350 mm of rain fell this year, which makes it probably one of the driest years the Struma Valley has ever seen. The winter was mild, similar to 2024, but the spring started more slowly this time, with chillier temperatures until the end of May. It was so different from the last few years that we didn't realize that it was actually a normal spring. In June, the hot and dry summer hit in full force. Which might have actually saved our vintage, because late May downy mildew broke out in the vineyard and probably took about 25% of the crop. The alcohol in this vintage is about 0,5% less, and the acidity is also a bit less, which probably makes it more balanced and closer to a classic red.
Винификация
The grapes are destemmed (the berries not crushed) with 10% whole clusters. The temperature of the inox vessel is set at 20 degrees. The two varieties co-ferment for 11 days with a pump over once a day before being pressed. Stayed on the lees for 5 months and 2 more months without them in an inox vessel.
Вкус и аромат
Very bright red berries on the nose, with some dark ones as well, and secondary herbal aromas. Medium to high acidity and medium tannins. Medium body with long finish. Cherries, dark berries, and spices on the palate.
